boy, boygenius is coming out with another EP!

Surprise! The band "boygenius" which includes Lucy Dacus, Julien Baker, and Phoebe Bridgers is coming out with an EP that will be a sequel to their recent album "the record". This EP has been titled "the rest" and will feature three more songs with a release date set for October 13th.

I think what's so powerful about boygenius is the fact that all three of the members have created successful artist careers in their own rights. They all met during their collective and similar rises to fame. Dacus and Baker ended up at the same record label, Matador Records, while Bridgers signed to Dead Oceans and they decided to join forces in 2018, releasing their self-titled EP.

The first song on the new EP, "Black Hole" debuted at their sold-out show in Boston. It had a similar sound to some of their other songs from "the record" though featured Dacus on lead vocals and the ending at least had some separations between the words.

That same concert featured a guest appearance from Hozier who also recently released the album "Unreal Unearth". Side note that album is amazing if anyone has not listened yet. De Selby Pt 1 is beautiful and Damage Gets Done featured Brandi Carlile and her voice melds so nicely with Hozier's.

I'm excited to see what they do with the new EP, especially if they choose to follow the sound of the preceding album or if they choose to release this EP separately due to the difference in sound it may have.

My personal favorite album of theirs was their debut particularly "Bite the Hand". Their sound is a lot slower than their newest debut but the build-up in the song and the eventual release is so pleasing to the ears and I can't recommend the song enough.

I feel as well, I was recently having a conversation about what artists or what songs or artists remind you of fall. I feel like boygenius definitely falls under that category, pun definitely intended. It feels like the type of music that would go perfectly with a cup of hot apple cider.

There are tons of different answers to what reminds you of fall and I think it also depends in turn on what artists or songs are linked to that type of nostalgia. For me, in terms of recent artists, boygenius and Soccer Mommy (especially the album "Clean") are two artists that distinctly remind me of fall, I can't explain why.
