About Me
Behind the Words
Rebecca (Bec) Legato is a junior journalism major at Ithaca College with a double minor in
international communications and art history. She currently holds a 3.7 GPA and plans to graduate in
May 2024. As a journalist, Bec strives to write and report the news for a variety of mediums with an
objective point of view. Inquisitive and curious with a love of fact-finding and digging for details, she
is driven and eager to learn.
In her free time, Bec is involved with a wide range of campus organizations. Last semester she
served as News Director for the college’s two radio stations, WICB and VIC. Additionally, she
wrote, recorded, and produced newscasts and “Ithaca Now,” a weekly local news production focused
on stories in the Tompkins County, New York region.
Bec will be studying abroad in London, England during the spring 2023 semester. While there, she
will be taking a variety of courses in international communications and art history, as well as
working part-time as a public relations assistant.
Bec graduated from Montgomery High School in Skillman, New Jersey in May 2020 with a
cumulative GPA of 3.4. Although she graduated in the heart of the pandemic, she was determined to
take a variety of advanced placement courses to better her education. Throughout high school, she
involved herself in multiple clubs and student organizations, including the literary magazine and the
varsity swim team.
Her goal for the future is to gain additional work experience in print and/or radio journalism. Bec
welcomes the opportunity for an internship where she can work alongside seasoned professionals and
tap into her passion for communicating with a broad spectrum of audiences, clearly and concisely.
